The “Teabaggers” and their useless babble!!!
Jul 16th
Every once in a while I feel compelled to voice my opinion and this is one of those times…I have been listening and reading all of the garble that has been coming from the mouths of the “teabaggers”, the hateful people in this society, the racists, the bigots and the wide range of other narrow-minded, stuck in the days of racism and KKK ideals until I am sick of it…If these groups of “hate mongers” would spend as much time trying to be productive members of society and actually contribute something useful instead of expending their energy and time just being loud mouth no bodies, we might find things get a lot better a lot faster…
I am especially annoyed with candidate Robin Smith who I think is one of the most disrespectful, ignorant public figures I have ever heard speak…She represents exactly the kind of person I just portrayed above…At 55, I show more respect to an ant than she can show to any living thing…She is an obvious racist and bigot and is not worth the time of day…All she has is a big mouth with nothing useful to say…She needs to get with Sarah Palin and have tea..They have a lot in common…
It really disturbs me when, day after day, I hear people uttering such negativity and disrespect for President Obama and his leadership…I look at this man as a leader who has been dealt one of the most difficult hands in the deck…He is trying his damn well best to get 8 years of mess straightened out and, in my opinion is doing a hell of a job…He is out in communities with people, mingling in the crowds, talking face to face with “the ordinary joe blow” who is eating at a hamburger stand, getting his hands dirty, and actually being a “human being”, not a figure head on a pedestal, above everyone…I have said it from the time he started campaigning, I would love to have the opportunity to sit and have a cup of coffee with him…Come on people, let’s get real and stop all of this hate and racism…Remember Martin Luther King and his “I have a dream speech” and start living like today is your last day…What legacy do you want to be remembered by???…One of hate or one of love and caring…Think about it…I know I do, every day….
Heat, heat go away!!!
Jun 20th
Temps in Tennessee this week are like our August dog days…90 degrees plus with heat indexes over 100!!!…did someone say “Global Warming”???..The Farmers Almanac predicted a hot, dry summer for us and so far, they are right on the money!!!…We have had some wicked thunderstorms to go along with our heat which just adds to the fun…After the ping pong size hail which accompanied one storm about a week ago, my Camry now looks like it was in a marble fight…Pock marks from hood to trunk and everywhere in between…
I am beginning to think harder and harder about relocating to a more northern area since I would much prefer to have to put on an extra sweater or two than try and stay cool when the temps are 95 and above…You can only take off so much without causing a scene!!!..:-)…
In closing I will say that I am most grateful to the inventor of the air conditioner…I do still remember the days without them..and they were HOT!!!
Nashville Flooding: At Least 29 Dead From Record Rains In Mid-South
May 4th
Just thought I’d share this YouTube video about the flooding that has occurred in Nashville this past weekend…My heart goes out to all those affected by this tragic event…The death toll keeps climbing and they are reporting several of the deaths are homeless people who got caught in the storm…Makes you realize how lucky you are to have a roof over your head…It seems that Mother Nature is showing us who is boss lately with all of the unusual weather…
New York Blizzard February, 2010
Mar 1st
While we in Cleveland, TN were complaining about our “cloudy and cold” weather, our family and friends in New York were battling the “blizzard of 2010″…Our son, Josh, and his wife, Dominique, and her family in Long Island were shoveling out from another foot of new, wet, heavy snow…My friends in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY (my hometown) were buried under 2 and a half plus feet of snow…In addition, power outages, hurricane force winds and downed trees made the past few days absolutely miserable…I finally was able to e mail my girlfriend, Chris, and she sent me some of the pictures below…
Josh, who is a daredevil at heart, decided this would be the perfect weekend to go “snowboarding” so he and three of his friends took off Saturday morning to Hunter Mountain in upstate NY…Finding the resort closed due to no power, they ventured further north to Lake George, NY and Gore Mountain…The mountain had 76″ of new snow so, as he said, falling was no problem…like hitting a soft, down feather pillow…Oh, to be 29 again!!!…He also sent us some pictures which are also below…
According to the long range weather reports, NY could be facing another storm the middle of the upcoming week…We will be keeping them in our thoughts as we may be dealing with a “wintery mix” or a “dusting” of snow Monday night and Tuesday…I promise, we will not complain!!!
Enjoy the pictures and remember, tomorrow is March 1st…Spring is fast approaching…We know the Northeast will be happy and, after the winter we had in Tennessee, warm sunshine will feel good here, too!!!
Long Island Snowstorm Feb. 10, 2010 and Signs of Spring….
Feb 15th
Thanks to our son, Josh, sending us these pictures, I can share the snowstorm from Long Island with our friends and family….This one dumped 22″ on them, as compared to one from the beginning of December which gave them a whopping total of 27″ (a record for the area)…As you can see, Rocky, their Lab, thoroughly enjoys frolicking in the snow…
I remember well the snow storms we had when I was growing up in NY and these pics bring back many memories…Now that I am older, I can truthfully say, I love looking at the pictures but I am glad Cleveland, TN considers a major snowstorm when anything more than 4″ of snow falls..LOL…
Winter will be with us for a while but, Spring is definitely in the air…The robins are returning and this morning, sitting on top of the bluebird house, was a returning bluebird scoping out the house for the next batch of eggs and baby birds…We get the pleasure of enjoying them each and every year…
Hope everyone stays warm and well and just know, Spring will be here before we know it!!!

- “I’m ready to come inside, now!!!”

- “Whew!!!..back on the right path!!”
It’s Not The Tree In Your Christmas But The Christmas In Your Tree
Dec 14th
With Christmas approaching quickly, I thought I’d share some of my thoughts for the season…I love the holidays and look forward to them every year…This year, things are going to be different around our home and I know we will not be alone in the change…Instead of stressing out over Christmas shopping and battling the crowds, Glenn and I are enjoying our first quiet, tranquil holiday season…For the first time, yesterday I baked a holiday yeast bread filled with raisins, cherries, pineapple and, of course, black walnuts…I have to say, I really am quite tickled at the way it turned out…:-)…It is YUMMY!!!…I still plan on baking some more cookies, making some Christmas candy and whatever other new goodies I can try… More >
Cleveland, TN’s Empty Stocking Fund
Dec 7th
An annual event in Cleveland, TN is the “Empty Stocking Fund” which is now in it’s 64th year…Sponsored by WCLE, our local radio station, each year the Empty Stocking Fund makes it possible for hundreds of less fortunate children from our area to have something under the tree on Christmas morning…For two weeks at the beginning of December, the radio personalities, headed by station owner Steve Hartline, take calls all day from listeners donating funds to be used to buy toys, food, etc. for the Christmas Party held to distribute the goodies…100% of the money collected is used to go to the area stores for the purchases…With the economy being what it is, this years need is sure to be greater than in the past…As of this morning, $17,000.00 had been pledged by our generous friends and neighbors in the Cleveland area…By the end of the collection, I know they are hoping to have a larger total than ever before…
I am asking that anyone reading this go to the radio station’s website @ Mymix104.com or call in to (423) 614-6499 to make your pledge…Let’s make this Empty Stocking Fund the best yet!!!Â
This Season’s First Snow
Dec 7th
How exciting it was on Saturday morning to wake up to our first snowfall of the season!!..We had about 2″ which is about as much as we have seen since we have lived in TN (each time, that is)..The trees were just glistening and each branch so pretty in white…I, of course, had the camera out taking pictures before it melted away..I’m still a kid at heart and get excited every time the “white stuff” shows up..By 1PM almost all of the snow had melted away and all that was left was the memory and the pictures… More >

Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head
Sep 26th
Another “soggy” Saturday in Tennessee…they are promising a “Sunny Sunday” and the week ahead looks cooler and nice…Hard to believe Thursday is October 1st already…Where has this year gone???…
Just got finished taking pics of “Rose” hanging upside down eating grapes…She picked one at a time off the vine and ate every last grape while hanging from the top of the cage…She really is quite the acrobat…
Hubby is busy working in the basement tearing out old AC duct work…The “Cleveland” household is going back to living like we used to do…Window AC units and a wood burning stove for heat…Our electric bills are proof enough that the “central AC gluttons” waste a lot of electricity pumping the cold air all over the house…We have noticed a considerable reduction in our useage and with the woodstove, I am confident that our winter bills will be lower, too…
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend…Happy Fall!!!!
